From 1203 AD to 1494 ( Husain Shah takes over) Hindus & Buddhists lost 6 universities, colleges and schools, Temples, Pagodas, monasteries, image worshiping rights or rights to perform Sanatan Rituals in public.
1480 Raj of Rajshahi (now in Bangladesh) took up a challenged and performed DURGA PUJA when many inauspicious omens befell his kingdom leading to bad days.
By 1494 Husain shah extends certain relaxation to kefirs that extended till 1538. Hindus innovated new survival kit in BHAKTI route by shifting to oral rendition through play (drama on epics and Puranas , katha bachak , Pott katha) , songs (Kirtan-Baul) and writing literatures under King’s patronage ( Manasha mangal etc).
1610 Subarna Roy Chaudhury did construction of first road, first pucca house, first Durga Puja in Barisa (Kolkata). These Pujas were of SHAKTI worshiping through BHAKTI marg by toning down live sacrifices. As EIC stepped in, Nabakrishna Dev started Durga Puja at Shobhabazar Rajbari in 1757. Some critics believe it was more to please Lord Clive than Goddess Durga.
He was a rich Bramin of Birbhum and worked as Collector under Siraj-Ud-Daula .
Point of interest:
1757: He flattered Clive, who gave him title of BLACK COLNEL, by serving beef, pork, wine and women on the occasion of Durga Puja.
1764: Shah Alam give Maharaja title.
1775: He was hanged by Warren Hastings
1831: Another Brahmin Rammohan Roy was titled RAJA by Akbar II, the Mughal emperor.
Those days Bengal had 67.5% Hindus and our eminent Hindus were being pampered by both Abrahamic colonial powers.
As KGB found USEFUL IDIOTS in Communists in India, did our Abrahamic rulers also had such attitude? I do not know.
1857: After the revolt a large number of Maharajas and Chieftains were taken under payroll of the British for suppressing the revolt and subsequent brutal retributions against the locals. Some of them were given titles like “The Choicest Son” or “The Cherished Son of the Faith.”( Source: The Paramount Power and Princely States of India – 1858-1881 by Ajit K Neogy, 1979 and The Aftermath of Revolt 1857-1870 – Thomas R Metcalf, 1964).

They were in power they could do anything but why tag of war for the “RIGHT person” from Hindu society.
Nabakumar had to die for his honesty but his contribution to Hinds in Bengal to turn ‘Durga worshipping’ to a ‘Durga Festival’ for sycophancy by discarding or suitably modifying both SHASTRA ( ritualistic procedures) and ASTRA ( weapons) on Goddess. This is still continuing.
Shakti Aradhana of Raja Narayan Roy Bahadur of Rajshahi with live animal sacrifice has been abolished and Sakti Puja in Bhakti Marg of Raja Subarna Roy Chaudhury has turn into Bonedi (Aristocrat traditional) Puja took shelter in some family Pujas.
Did we note the different between real RAJA and Decorated RAJA?
Note the irony, from 1480 to 2022 Hindus have fallen from Appx 80% (67.5% at first census 1881) to 32% (2011) and Durga Puja has come from DURGA MANDAP (Temple at Royal Palaces) to Pendol made by shoes and Red Road Carnival.
I do not know if there is any Hindu in WB to find the REASONS and think if Hindus keep getting MODERN (self-destructive) at this rate where will be Hinduism in BENGAL?
Here are my imaginations towards finding reasons.
- Atheism:
- Atheism weakens the belief system.
- Belief system is the both Fulcrum and axel of a civilization.
- No civilization can sustain on weak or distorted axel or fulcrum.
2. Refusal to study Abrahamic theocracy:
- Right from 711 AD Hindu seer as well as warriors might have never studied Koran-Hadid, Bible -Deuteronomy.
- They thought like Buddhism and Jainism, both were new religion.
- They never considered that Abrahamic set came to destroy our civilization.
3. Hindu renascence :(took base period from 1757, instead of 1203) leaving 554 years of gap in intellectual journey of Bhadraloks ( British influenced Hindus of Bengal).
- Thousands of volumes of book have been written on merit of HR but I did not read.
- For me, it’s FIRST and FOREMOST aim was to discard “idolatry and polytheism” on which HINDUISM sustained its innovative journey from time immemorial.
- Even today the axel and fulcrum is same with innumerable options of functioning that includes FORM (idolatry) and FORMLESS, God that manifests in various forms (polytheism).
- Tendency to interpret Abrahamic theology into Santana philosophy by accepting Whiteman’s burden theory (inferiority complex).
- Sanatan is not a religion of book nor is it static or time frozen.
- How can an innovative civilization be compared with FIRM & FIXED doctrines?
Many thousands books and Hindu schools of thought have emerged that keep trying to solve the insoluble and equalizing the inequitable.
However today I wish to tell my personal dilemma:
I am the President of a local Durga Puja committee and I am dead against the Govt. funding for my Puja or Festival or any rituals. This year too IRs.70K per Puja allocation has been made. Every year increasing ever since it was started by this Govt. I opted to exit from the post but my members pressed me to explain why I dislike something that almost every Hindu in Bengal enjoys FREE FUND for “Lord Clive Puja”.
Here are my expectations cum apprehensions:
Dulhan Wahi Jo Piya Man Bhaye (दुल्हन वही जो पिया मन भाये ).
Under a democracy you can ruin them better whose “Loyalty” you have earned.
1840 –British enacted the religious endowments act with a purpose “to give better administration, Govt. helps to develop, maintain and improve Hindu temples and Mutts”. (Great love for Heathen)
(Today Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams fund is in the hand of Christian and Andhra conversion is at a new height).
Why British loved heathen Indian and left {References:

Any idea why they did it?
Abrahamic pays 10% of their earning as THITA and JAKAT towards their theocratic unit for expansionism etc.
Hindus pay nothing but Hindus donates in temple fund as our Temples used to be School, welfare Center, Bank as well as center of worship.
Muslim collected JAJIYA from Kefir and faced the wrath (absent from history books). British took the entire donation fund without offending Hindus on the street.
After enacting suitable acts an Abrahamic could take over any Temple trust as trutee. ( Mamata Banerjee cannot sit on Waqf Board or any Church Board.)
Congress ratified the act in 1951, 1959, 1987, and 1997.
Govt pay money to Hindus perhaps for a smooth take over through पिया मन भाये. Calcutta High Court has already said “Durga Puja “is not a religious festival. What carnival got to do with Shakiti Puja? Is it a FAZLAMI (Facetiousness) to alter PANCHANG (ancient Hindu calendar) to suit Abrahamic events for ruling party vote collection?
What dose carnival means?
1. A season or festival of merrymaking before Lent. (Catholic event)
2. An instance of merrymaking, feasting (Biblical)
3. A process of Masquerading.
4. An instance of riotous excess, a carnival of violence.
5. A travelling enterprise- offering.
6. A masquerading parade.
7. An amusement.
(Isn’t it Evangelical activity?)
So far in my knowledge only Mamata Banerjee is the Lone Hindu invited by Vatican. Kerjiwal is a Catholic, his invitation matters nothing.

Hindu Bengali’s time clock:
Pundit (Maharaja) Nabakumar might have seen a great hope in PRABHU (Lord) Clive to escape from the life of DHIMMIS (Jihad). Bandel Church was constructed in 1599 AD by Portuguese Catholics. Clive did not find a Church for “Thank Giving”, so Pundit Ji offered DEVI DURGA as an option. Bandel was a barren place where as Clive after setting feet in Bengal firmly made a grand Church at the then Bengal Pilgrimage centre NABADWIP- Krishnnagar in 1840 ( protestant brain).
Had they been Catholic how many Inquisitions would have taken place by 1947 I cannot imagine but can recount Goa, America and Australia.

Central Asian Byzantine fell in the hands of Muslims. They did their conversion and those who went to Rome faced what “Goddess Barbara” faced (murdered).
Constantine became Christian on October 28, 312 AD and within 10 years it was declared the state religion. It is not very difficult to imagine what “Great Agony” might have befallen on citizen of Rome when their ancient belief system was to be abandoned within 10 years.
However they could not give up everything all together. Goddess BARBARA became Santa Barbara or St Barbara.
In Bengal:
Pundit Nabakumar Maharaja presented Debi Durga somewhat as a CHEER LADY to Prabhu (Lord) Clive.
Now Pundita Mamata Banerjee, the CM has brought her on the RAMP WALKING on Red Road (cat walk is awaited).
Goddess Barbara became St Barbara, perhaps, within 400 years.
Goddess Durga in on the way from 1757 (i.e. 266 yrs) How long to wait?
Is anyone really waiting for St. Durga of Kolkata with the consents of her worshipers?
